Friday is such a happy day. How has your week felt to you? We have had a full one. John returned from Chicago on Monday. So happy he is home! Clara celebrated her 17th birthday on Wednesday. We have a college graduation coming up for my daughter, Anna. And the regular life stuff too.
Spring continues to show her astounding stuff, wouldn't you agree? Everything is so alive! Here are few things that have been making my life a bit sweeter lately.
For Your Lips (no, really!)
My lips have a tendency to be dry. I usually use Burt's Bees lip balm with great success but occasionally, my lips seem beyond the regular help. This stuff has been working like magic. Sometimes, it really is the little things. Do you have any simple products that you love?
For Your Life
I have always been intrigued by the connection our thoughts may have with our experience of reality. Recently, I came upon this podcast on Optimal Living Daily (I now listen to all three of these podcasts. Optimal Living Daily, Optimal Health Daily, and Optimal Finance Daily!). So fascinating! Amidst my coach training, we learned about how the brain responds and processes a lot of what we experience in the subconscious. Mantras seem to work in the subconscious by overwriting the wiring in our brain. We may read or say them in the morning but our brains keep mulling them over as we shower, drive, eat, and live. Rewiring our brains away from negative thought patterns can take effort. But this podcast provided me some food for thought. And ultimately, hope and empowerment!
For Your Cooking Pleasure
I have been feeling a bit tired in the kitchen. Not as motivated. When this happens, I fall back on the dishes that I have been making for years. Then, the meals seem tired too! Time to try something new! This week, I found a couple of recipes that I am excited to try. Check out the salmon recipe here. And the pasta salad recipe here. I recommend using whole grain pasta as a nutritional upgrade. Do you have a favorite recipe? Would you like to share it with me? You can! I would love it!
For Your Healthy Self
Several months ago, I made a small change that has made a huge difference in the way we snack in our home. Each week, I take time to chop up an array of vegetables ahead of time. I place them each in glass containers and situate them front and center in the refrigerator. Carrots. Cucumbers. Snap peas. Peppers. Broccoli and cauliflower. You name it! Whatever is in season. I tend to choose three or four vegetables at a time. I have found that having fresh food ready and accessible is enough to create a new snacking dynamic. It also helps to have delicious hummus or guacamole on hand, I must say. Or ranch dressing (Winston's favorite). What is a small change that you have made for your health lately?
What has been working for you lately? A podcast? Treat? Book? I would love to hear from you. There are so many good things. Do share!
