Winter Greetings

Hello, my loves. I realize that it has been a minute since we last connected. I have missed you! Or maybe you have had your fill of me on Mormon Stories Podcast as I started participating a bit more there (you can see my latest here and here, if you are interested!). And that is okay too! But how is this moment finding you? Shall we take a moment to reflect? Take some deep breaths now. You deserve more oxygen! Are you feeling tired? Hopeful? Contemplative? Grateful? Overwhelmed? Sick? Lost? At this moment in time, the latest strain of Covid is saturating most of the population of Salt Lake City. Our temperatures have been hovering in the 30s. There is a thin blanket of snow on the ground but the roads are clear. The inversion is settling like a cloud upon our valley. The mountains are gorgeous as ever but look aloof to it all. It is a strange time—not without its own beauty—but strange and stressful too. Winter challenges us to turn inward and now we have more reasons than ever to find a way to live mindfully at home. I would love to hear from you about how you are at this moment in time.

And now, for a bit of fun! I thought I would share a few random snapshots of this moment. We all need some pleasure and connection, right? I wish there was a way for you all to share photos too.

what I’m wearing…

My daily uniform has been simplified. Most days, I wear leggings or pants with a sweater or hoodie. I bought a couple of long-sleeve thermals for winter that are making so happy so I layer those under for extra warmth.

what I’m reading…

The Course of Love by Alain de Botton—a thought-provoking narrative with interspersed provoking insights about how we view and understand (or don’t) love in all its complexity.

Homegoing by Yaa GyasiNYTimes Notable Book—This novel begins in Ghana during the 18th century and follows the parallel path of two sisters’ experience and the legacy of slavery from the Gold Coast to the Americas. The writing is powerful and riveting.

what I’m enjoying…

Morning walks outside

Fragrances of the moment (Lake and Skye 11 11 and Lollia Relax)

Vitruvi diffusers with amazing scent blends

The warmth and glow of the fireplace

Morning coffee and peppermint tea

Reading

Creating nourishing meals

Yoga

Baths (at all times of dayI Who knew?)

The morning sun

I would love to hear from you about what you have been wearing, watching, reading, and enjoying lately. Give me a snapshot, will you? Sending you winter wishes of warmth and cozy-ness.
